Regeneration of the Woodend area of Port Glasgow which incorporates the clearance and re-construction of over 2,500 units.
The 'Lot 1' (Phase 1) project comprises the construction of 200 unit social houses following demolition of existing stock and a school, and general site clearance. The sites are on steeply sloping ground with rock present at shallow depth.
The challenges included providing cost effective solutions to the development layout which included the provision of full split level housing in a number of areas and gabion retentions in rear gardens to ensure that the properties were compliant with disabled persons access requirements and provided functional garden spaces.
